4. If I have Call Waiting on my line, should I disable it while I'm online?

Yes. If you have call waiting active while you are on line, your Internet connection will be terminated when you receive a call. To eliminate this problem you can disable your call feature by following these steps.
(This is for Microsoft® Windows® 98. The process is similar on other operating systems.):

1. Click the Start button at the lower left of your desktop
2. Move your cursor to Settings
3. Click on Control Panel
4. Double-click Modems; the Modems Properties window will open
5. Under the General tab, click the Dialing Properties button at the bottom of that window
6. Click the box in front of To disable call waiting; a checkmark will appear in it and the drop down box at the far right of that line will activate
7. In the drop down box, highlight the appropriate code for disabling call waiting:
for touch-tone phones, it's usually *70
for rotary/pulse phones, it's usually 1170
Check with your local telephone company to verify the code in your area.
8. Click the OK button at the bottom of the Dialing Properties window to close it
9. Click the OK button at the bottom of the Modems Properties window to close it
10. Click the X button at the upper right of the Control Panel window to close it
11. To reactivate your call waiting feature once you log off the Internet, follow the same steps, except highlight 70# instead of *70

5. Can I have VBSnet if I am not a Valor Business Solutions customer?

Yes. A customer who does not have other Valor Business Solutions services can purchase VBSnet, but must be billed by credit card. VBSnet can be added to the invoice of a new local phone service customer or an existing Valor Business Solutions customer.

6. Are there any restrictions or limitation in using the VBSnet Internet service?

Yes. The VBSnet Dial-Up Service has a 20-minute maximum idle time and an 8-hour continuous use time limit.

If you are online and you do not surf or send email for 20 continuous minutes, your computer will automatically be logged off. Also, if you are logged on and using the Net for more than 8 continuous hours, your computer will automatically be logged off. In either case, you can immediately reconnect to the service.

7. How do I know if my access number is a local call?

If you have any doubts, call your local phone service provider to verify this for you. Long distance charges will be incurred if the access number is not a local number. All long-distance or other toll charges are the responsibility of the customer.

8. Does VBSnet offer toll-free 800 access for users outside the local calling area?

No. VBSnet does not offer a toll-free 800 service. If the user is not in an area where a local number is available, long-distance charges will be incurred to access the service. All long-distance or other toll charges are the responsibility of the customer.
