I'm a 30 something Web Designer from Dallas. I've been happily married for the past 4 years. No kids, and actually not pets either at the moment. I would love to have a dog though.

I've been entranced by this web thing since 1997. I just love the instant gratification you get when you update a site and refresh your browser, BOOM, your changes are there.

I attended my first SXSW Interactive Festival this year in Austin. It was a very eye-opening experience. It really gave me the extra little push I needed to do my own thing.

I have had the good fortune to have worked with several extremely talented people in the Web Industry in the past 4 years. I think that's why I love what I do so much. I honestly cannot imagine doing anything else with my life.

Why the Tutu? I've always loved dance and dancing. I got my first pair of ballet shoes when I was 2 and started taking lessons when I was 3. It really didn't matter what type of music was playing on the radio or stereo, I had to start dancing as soon as the first note hit my eardrums.

My Grandmother would pick me up these really cute dance costumes from her church's thrift shop and I would put on little dance recitals for my Parents and Grandparents.

I danced for the first time on stage at age 3 and continued on until age 14 when in a very rash moment I decided that Soccer and Swimming had much more importance to me than Ballet. I regretted that decision for several years until I realized that my 5 foot 4 frame with very developed soccer legs really didn't look cute and petite in those pretty pink tutu's anymore. That and the fact that I liked food way to much to starve myself for my craft. ;-)

I moved on and found new interests like boys and Heavy Metal music. Ah Iron Maiden, sigh...how sweetly thy play. But apparently my subconscious still had pretty pink tutu's tucked away somewhere on a back burner for later use.

When I married in 1997, my subconscious took control and I ended up walking down the aisle in a beautiful one-of-a-kind pretty pink wedding dress. With a pink tulle skirt of course. :-)

My Mother-in-law custom made a dress for me. It was a true labor of love. I found a dress the color I wanted but the dress was all wrong for me. In the end, the color was the only thing that resembled the original dress. WOW! She did such a fantastic job.

I guess the morale of my story is, sometimes you can't fight your subconscious. You just have to give in and go with it. It's exactly that way with web design some times. You fight a design and fight a design and then one day you just have to give it over to the design fairy in the pretty pink tutu that's trapped deep inside of you.
