Everyday on my way to and from work I pass a big cemetery. I noticed this week that they had been decorating the cemetery in preparations for Memorial Day. There were flags all over the place. Big flags, little flags, every where you looked you saw the American flag. It hit me that this year we we'll probably spend a little more time remembering what this holiday is all about. In between hanging out by the pool or munching on BBQ, I bet we all spend a few moments reflecting on the past 8 months and look at this holiday a little differently this year than we have in recent years. I know I will. Have a fantastic and safe extended weekend one and all!!!!

I've been keeping up with an old friend through e-mail for about a month now and it's almost like we are still in the same town. I've never had a "pen pal" online before and it's funny how I look forward to getting her e-mails. We're still trying to catch up from the last 17 years, but I think were getting up to speed. It's amazing to me how we can just pick right back up where we left off. Even though we're both 17 years older, we still have a lot in common. I guess something's never change.

Well, I know I'm a day late, but I couldn't let my first anniversary online go without mentioning how much I have loved having this soap box over the past year. I started writing last May and the timing couldn't have been better. I was out of work, my Grandfather was very ill and I was dealing with a lot of things in my life. It was very therapeutic to have a place to talk and getting feedback just blew me away. I LOVE BLOGGING!!! :) I know I have not been around much lately and those of you who are closest to me know why. I’m dealing with things and I think they are getting better. At least they are not getting worse. I got an email from a very close friend who will be back in town over Memorial Day. I can’t wait to catch back up with her. She has been dealing with her own things recently and I’m very, very happy about seeing her again. My Sister graduated from College last Saturday. She’s now a real RN. She will be working as an ICU Nurse at Children’s Hospital in OKC. She gets to work with the premature baby’s. I cannot describe how proud and happy I am. She worked for an extremely long time to get through school and she never gave up. She inspires me!! Courtney, I know that Pop is just as proud of you as I am, maybe even more. Xoxoxo

Many pundits strongly disagree. They believe blogging is built on trust. I agree. They think promoting a mobile phone or airline tickets or soft drinks on a blog would be horribly wrong. That's where I say, "Give me a break." No! You give ME a break. It is personal and we don't want to loose the trust of our readers. I'm not going to charge for people to read my ranting. I'm also not going to expose the readers to "This Blog brought to you by the kind folks at (enter flashy name here along with a Cleo winning catch phrase). You see Seana, the difference between a blog and the examples you listed, i.e. newspaper and radio, is that a blogger doesn't get paid to post. They do it out of love or in many cases addiction.
