Quote of the Day: "I believe forgiving them is God's function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting."

This is hilarious!!! So, I'm checking my stats today and I find this search query called "Jish has nice balls". I discovered quite by accident that when you go to the first link on the Google Search for that query, you get this. By the way, I'm listed as 10th on the Google Search page for that query. ;-) I did have the pleasure of meeting Jish and hanging out with him (that might be a bad choice of words there) at last years SXSW, but I promise, we both were fully clothed. I wonder, could this be some strange ploy to get more votes for The Bloggies? Nah...

I'm out of the loop most of the day at a design seminar and as soon as I get home and turn the TV on I get totally blown away. I'm speechless.

At least now I have a reason to watch the half time show. I've been a big fan of U2 for several years now. I love their ability to evolve and change as I've grown older. I remember when "Achtung" came out, it was way ahead of it's time and at first I was not sure about the album, it soon became one of my favorite U2 albums. Their latest album, "All that you can't leave behind" is another favorite. It's almost scary how the theme of that album relates to our lives today. I know it was written before anyone could fathom the events of September 11th, but if you listen to the words of songs like New York, Stuck in a moment, Walk on and Peace on Earth; you can easily see how they relate to life today. It's almost eerie when you think that this album came out in October of 2000.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions of hosting companies to look at. I have a big list now and as soon as I can find a moment to catch my breath at work, I'll be making a decision. And I mean really fast!!! Our site was down most of the morning due to a network outage at hosting.com. I now have 3 separate support tickets open over there by the way. Do you think any of them are being looked at or at least acknowledged? NOPE!!! I found out that Allegiance Telecom is actually Hosting.com. Which is sad since I pass them everyday on my way to work and back. If I had a good enough arm that I could throw a rock out of my car window and hit one of their windows...I WOULD!!!! While on their message board one of their customers sited an article in a recent issue of Web Hosting Magazine. I tried to get a copy, but the article must be in this months issue. Anyway, I'll just copy and paste what is being discussed over at the board. Hope you don't mind Bill. :) If you get Web Hosting Magazine, you may have seen the article. For those who don't here's a synopsis. No. 15 "I Pledge Allegiance..." Talks about this CLEC's acquisition of hosting companies in 2001 and WHMag writes... "Allegiance obviously believes hosting will play a major part in its salvation... "Now the question becomes one of whether or not a CLEC can really run a successful hosting company. Word on the street is 'not really,' but in this case, let's wait and see." Now these are editor's comments, but what does it say when those watching the business aren't optimistic? So who will acquire Hosting.com when Allegiance realizes that can't handle it? - Bill I must say I totally agree, Allegiance is NOT ready for this. That is totally apparent!!!!!

What kind of "Party Animal" are you?

Sorry I have not been around much, I've been up to my eyeballs in code trying to fix the problem with our site at work. Our FREAKING host is an embarrassment to hosting companies. I have had a support ticket open for over a week now and STILL no resolution to my problem. If you or your company is looking for a new host I can say run, runaway as fast as you can from HostingFREAKING-NO-SUPPORT-GIVING.com I had to get on their customer message board and get help from other customer that had just experienced the same problem with hosting.com. Thanks for NOTHING hosting.scum. Bad web host, bad, bad!!!!! If anyone knows of any good, reliable, support friendly web hosts out there please send them my way. I'm currently looking at Apollo hosting, HostGo.com, Host Rocket and Liquid Web.

Things have been even more nuts than usual at work the past two days. Our web host totally hosed the majority of their clients and now we are all paying for it. Long story short, they updated a formmail.pl file and didn't send out notice with enough time for folks to prepare and make the proper changes. What does all of this mumbo jumbo mean? It means that our on-line ordering service which was using form mail now does not work. For a small software company that depends on a good chuck of their revenue to come from their on-line order...this basically means we're in a bit of the old deep dooo doooooo. Our wonderful host is so over whelmed by support calls and problems due to their screw up that you cant even get any help from them. Way to go guys!! Love Ya, mean it. At least it's not my butt on the line, and I do have documentation that it IS THEIR FAULT. :) The boss has been pretty good about it. I'm doing all I can, but it's pretty hard to clean up after someone else's mistake when they write over the files you need. Funny thing is I've been telling the higher ups for a while that our host is not blowing my skirt up. I've had issues with them even since I took over as administrator/web master/programmer/designer...did I mention I'm also the marketing person. Needless to say, I'm looking for a new host ASAP. Besides that, I'm great. Still planning on working a little PHP into my vocabulary. I'll need it for the redesign of this blog as well as the redesign of our site at work.

Now that my computer is up and running again at home, I'm in the mood to totally redesign my blog. I'll probably leave the rest of the site as is, at least for now. So much going on at work that when I get home I don't even want to look at a computer most nights. I've seen a lot of good redesigns out there, maybe the design bug will bite me again soon and I'll have the energy and inspiration to do some work on my own site for a change. I'm going to be playing around with PHP at work so I've decided to do the initial experimenting here at on my blog. Guess that means I'm finally going to bite the bullet and add comments to this page. YEAH!!!

OHHH!!! The SXSW Iron Webmaster Showdown looks like a ton of fun. Especially if you work well under pressure.
From this day forward, I will now be known as Petunia Danderfluff.
