Ok, I'm really starting to freak out now. I ALSO screwed my hair up last night. My hair is now a dark reddish brown, it was sun streaked blonde. That's what I get for trying a new hair care product. At least I'm in good company.

Boy, June has been a rough month for me. We've lost a bunch of wonderful men this month. Anthony Quinn dies 2 days before my Grandfather does. Then on June 21st both Carroll O'Conner and John Lee Hooker pass. And yesterday Jack Lemmon joined them.

Here are a few of my favorite memories from each of these men:
Watching Anthony Quinn, play Paul Gaugin in the movie "Lust For Life", a movie based on the life of Van Gogh.
Getting to see John Lee Hooker perform in concert with Eric Clapton back in 1995.
Watching "Some Like it Hot" and "Mister Roberts" two of my favorite Jack Lemmon movies.
Noticing just how much Carroll O'Conner looks like my Grandfather did when he was fat and sassy and always made me laugh.
Getting to be with my Grandfather before he died to tell him how much I love him.

I found this courtesy of Brushstroke. Ok everyone, go out and add your blog to their directory.

Gosh! I've been so busy lately. A good kind of busy though. I've been working on two different freelance projects at the same time, or trying to at least. :) It's been fun changing gears between the two projects. I really love what I'm doing and it definitely keeps me busy.

I ran across a really nice site the other night. I think I made a new friend in the process. That's what I love about the Blog Community of which I recently became a member. Everyone that I have run across is so nice and so eager to help each other out. I met a lot of you at SXSW this year and it's so nice to be able to keep up with everyone on-line. I'm so glad that dink, billy and I went. I know we can't wait to go next year. Perhaps, I can get my Husband to go next time. He is getting ready to have his own site too. I've been kind of wrapped up in my freelance projects as of late and have not had much of a chance to help him get started on his site, but I will make the time very soon. I promise.

Do you think someone had a little too much time on their hands?

I'm sure a lot of you have already seen this site but, I just spent about 30 minutes playing around with Paul and his friends. S-S-S-S A-A-A-A F-F-F-F E-E-E-E T-T-T-T Y-Y-Y-Y SAFETY DANCE...

In case you don't have the time to sit through 24 hrs. straight of MTV, freakytrigger has done it for you.

I whole heartedly agree...I like Canadians too. I'm even going to celebrate Canada Day for the second year in a row.

I'm doing the Happy Dance right now. Actually , I have been all weekend, but now you can share in the excitement too.

Not many people know this but, Billy introduced me to my Husband. He was there from the beginning to see how sick we made everyone around us with our new found bliss. You know how it is when you see a couple together and you just know it's right for them. You see the glow on their faces and just know that when they look into each others eyes, they see something that no one else can see. Well, now it's their turn. :) And what really makes it special is that I love both of them so, so much. I am overcome with joy for both of them.

COOL! According to my stats, we've just reached a small mile stone, our first 1000 hits. If you've been here before, thank you for being part of the first 1000.

Just added a couple of more desktops to my play page. Help yourself, they're free. :)

PSSST...I just got a wonderful call from Dink. I won't spill the beans, but I'm very happy for her. ;-)
I'm sure you will all get the details when she returns from Florida.

At least there's no second hand smoke.

Dallas commuters have something new to look at while stuck in traffic.

My Hubby bought me a new toy last night. It's fully adjustable, has a mesh back and lumbar support.

It just makes me absolutely sick when I read news like this. I'm not a mother and I've never had a really bad bout with depression as of yet, but it just saddens and sickens me to read about women losing it. I know it's hard to keep it together all of the time, but killing all 5 of your children...I cannot imagine the state of mind this woman was/is in. I guess I'm just lucky enough that I have always been able to see a little light at the end of the tunnel. Where was this woman's family, her support network? Did she have no one to talk to? Did she have no one to vent with? Maybe that's the problem she needed help and didn't know where to turn. I thank God for close friends. I don't want to give this girl any excuses, I guess it's the optimist in me, I'm always wanting to believe in people. But this is hard to fathom.

How cool is that? Just got added to gouw, which would explain the recent jump in stats. Great site, very inspirational and informative. I've added them to my "play" page. If you're looking for a change in scenery definitely stop by and check them out.

Thank you Gouw!!

Oh Boy! Now the Canadians are REALLY going to hate us. ;-)
And who could blame them. It just doesn't sound proper for an American to own a Canadian Hockey team.

Don't forget to send Annette a special Birthday Greeting. She's my favorite Rock Goddess.

Ok, I'm not know as a really big Baseball fan, but there are a few players that I do follow. Cal Ripken of the Baltimore Orioles is one of them. Let me tell you, he didn't earn the nick name "Iron Man" for nothing. He is only the seventh player in history to reach both 400 career home runs and 3,000 hits. I will miss seeing his bright blue eyes shining at me from under his cap, but he has definitely had a wonderful 20 year career and deserves the time off.

WOW!! I was impressed and inspired by some of the desktops I saw.
Makes me want to go spend a couple of hours playing with Photoshop just to see what I could come up with.

OOO! This could be fun. DO I want to Blog or Sponsor?

Who is Johnny Nicholas and why are they searching for him.

I had a wonderful weekend spending some quality time with my Father for Father's Day. My brother and Sister In-law were in town and we all hung out by the pool yesterday. OUCH...I'm just a tiny bit sunburned, but it was a lot of fun.

This was my first Father's day without any Grandfather's at all. I tried not to think about it too much, but some how they kept slipping into our family conversations. It was nice to remember the men in my family that I love so much, I just wish I could have told them all face to face.

I hope each and everyone of you had a chance to tell the men in your life how much they mean to you. I realize now just how important that is.

Here is a shirt I just know my Husband will love.

You knew it wouldn't be long before you could start using DOH! in scrabble, well now it's official. As of yesterday, The Oxford English Dictionary now has Doh! in it.

It's called Karma, people. It'll get you every time.

My Grandmother is an absolute hoot. While I was visiting my Grandfather in the hospital before he passed, my Grandmother shocked me at least twice. I don't mean the average, "Oh that was cute Mamaw, and you’re so funny". I mean the, "Good Lord! Did I just hear that come out of your mouth?" kind of shock.

I must preface this story by saying that my Grandmother just like everyone else’s has always been a very prim and proper woman. I've never EVER heard an ill word out of her mouth. Stating that, you can imagine my shock and amazement when one morning after having just arrived at the hospital, I hear my Grandmother drop the B-Bomb. Not the F-Bomb, which would have immediately sent me into Cardiac Arrest, but the B-Bomb which was only slightly less jarring resulting in having to pick myself up off of the floor to regain my composure. She had been referring to one of the nurses that had just been in the room attending or at least pretending to attend to my Grandfather. We had been blessed with several wonderful Doctors and Nurses attending my Grandfather, this one was either burned out or hated the world. Regardless, she had really pissed my Grandmother off. Anyway, I remember having to ask everyone in the room if I had just heard those words come out of my Saintly Grandmother’s mouth. I recovered very quickly and had a good giggle for at least a half an hour afterwards.

I believe it was that same night that my Grandmother shocked me again. We left the Hospital and went to go eat Chinese Food for dinner. At the end of the dinner just before we open up our Fortune Cookies, my Grandmother announces, “Remember, you have to add “In Bed” to the end of your fortune”. I fell out of my chair and started rolling on the floor I was laughing so hard. Yes, I had said this myself many times, but never around her. It was so funny to hear this 75-year-old woman add that racy little comment. After we tried to regain our composure, we read our fortunes aloud.

Mamaw’s Fortune:
The current year will bring you much happiness – in bed.

My Fortune:
Your ability to juggle many tasks will take you far – in bed.

If you were lucky enough to attend this years SXSW back in March, you must take a moment and stop by BradLands Recollections. He's posted a few pics and memories of the entire event.

I totally agree with you Brad, I think we were all momentarily mesmerized by the call of the Talking Tattoo Parlor.

By the way, I'm already looking forward to next years "Break Bread with Brad". Hint, hint.

Nice Horoscope for today...I think it worked. :)

Taurus, you are ready to sway others to your side. Maybe you are trying to gather support for a move that you are making with your career. You could be asking people to provide personal or professional references. Or you might be asking friends to join you in a business venture. You could even be coming up with an investment opportunity that requires input from a group. With your charms, you'll have no troubles attracting attention.

Boy! What an incredibly busy day. I had a client lunch meeting to discuss a new website and I just got back from talking to a local company about doing some contract design and graphics work for them. Both meetings went very well, looks like I could be busy very soon.

Monday, June 11, 2001

I know, I know, I've been promising some of you that I would have my SXSW photos on-line soon. Well, here they are. I had a lot of fun making the pages that the photos go on. I discovered that I can make planets. ;-)

Have you ever wondered how big the trunk of a 2001 Jetta really is? Dink and I were very impressed. ;-)

Got a funny one today from my Sister.

Two doctors and an HMO manager died and lined up at the pearly gates for admission to heaven.St. Peter asked them to identify themselves. One doctor stepped forward and said,

"I was a pediatricorthopedic surgeon and helped correct deformities in children."

St. Peter said, "You may enter."

The second doctor said, "I was a psychiatrist. I helped people rehabilitate themselves."

St. Peter also invited him in.

The third applicant stepped forward and said, "I was an HMOmanager. I helped people get cost-effective health care."

St.Peter said, "You can come in too."

As the HMO manager walked by, St. Peter added, "You can only stay three days. After that, you can go to Hell."

I decided to redo this page a bit so I could leave more of my posts on the page at one time. I had been asked about a previous post and decided my old design didn't work really well if I had a lot to say. I hope this one will be easier to follow along with. Thansk for reading!!!

We made it back from my Grandfather funeral safe and sound. Thank you Dink, for all of your love and support. It was a very hard couple of days, but a lot of wonderful memories came out of it. Oh and by the way, if you've never seen the flag ceremony at a funeral before, it's one of the most touching things I've ever experienced in my life.

After 9 days in the hospital, my family now has a little peace. My Grandfather passed very peacefully this morning. He was a wonderful man and he will be missed very much. I'm so glad I had a chance to go see him and say good-bye in person. You've heard of "Daddy's Girl", well I was always "Pop's Girl". We shared a very special bond that continues to this day. I love you Pop and I always will.

Trent asked my Sat. night if I wanted to drive to Houston on Sun. and go shopping at IKEA. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive from our place to Houston and I had never been before so I said I'd love to go. WOW!!! I was amazed. We had a great time and it's a good thing our apartment is small or we would have had to have rented a car to bring back all of the cool furniture we liked. It was a very fun Sunday and Trent and I had a lot of quality time in the car. It was good to get out of the house and not think about anything for a day.
